Much like predators and prey, herbs of the Amazon Rainforest are rather different from the herbs found in the original book series. If you are a medicine cat, this thread is very significant to your job. Read through these herbs and ailments if you wish to become a medicine cat, because all of these are found in the Amazon Rainforest and can be used as herbs.
Herbs
ANNATTO - Large, red, spikey pods that contain seeds used to treat venom bites.
BROOMWEED - Has serrated leaves and many small white flowers. Used for broken limbs.
BUTTERCUPS - Small, yellow, cup-shaped flowers. Used to mask pain. The scent can cure headaches.
CAT'S CLAW - Large, woody vine. The bark is to be chewed and eaten, and used to help strengthen a weak cat.
COBWEBS - A silk web made from spiders. Very strong, and is used to stop bleeding.
COCOA SEED - Large seeds found inside cocoa pods. Difficult to retrieve, but medicine cats are skilled. Just one is needed to treat frayed nerves, fever, fatigue, and coughs.
CLAVILLIA - Long-stemmed with wide flowers. To be chewed and eaten to prevent infections from spreading from mosquito bites.
CURARE - Large poisonous vine. Medicine cats have to be careful when dealing with this rare herb. The poisons are to be eaten, for they do not infect, but relax muscles and knock out a cat. Great Jungle Clan have learned to use the poison on their claws for battle.
FOXGLOVE - Pink, bell-like flowers that grow in clumps. Used in small doses to calm frayed nerves. Larger doses can lead to dizziness.
MINNIEROOT - Hairy-stemmed flower. Cures aching joints.
POPPY SEEDS - Small seeds used to kill pain for periods of time. Also leads to drowsiness.
WHITE TRILLIUM - Three petals, three sepals, and three leaves. If the leaves are chewed, it helps cure vemon bites. If the petals are chewed, it helps with birthing queens. If the sepals are chewed, it helps bring down fever.
Sicknesses and Ailments
ACHING JOINTS - Basically arthritis in cats. Caused by age or damp weather. Symptoms include pain and stiffness. Best Treatment: Minnieroot
BLEEDING - Most common after battles when serious wounds contiously bleed. Best Treatment: Cobwebs
BROKEN LIMBS - When a limb appears twisted or broken, usually from a serious accident, such as a fall or attack from a larger predator. Best Treatmet: Broomweed and poppy seed for pain
COUGH - A common sickness after heavy rainfall. Symptoms include coughs and sneezes, dangerous to younger cats. Best Treatment: Cocoa seed
HEADACHES - An ailment where the head aches. Best Treatment: Buttercups
MALARIA - A fatal disease found in rodents and birds. Cats can get this from eating infected prey. Symptoms include fevers, chills, aching joints, and vomiting. Best Treatment: None
POISON - A petty to fatal disease caused by being bitten by venomous animals. Depends how serious the poisoning is. Symptoms include severe pain by the bite, a burning or tingling sensation all around the body, and stiff joints. Best Treatment: Annatto
