out of character
It starts with respect. Respect authority, respect your equals, respect your underlings. Do not bash anyone's beliefs, styles of life, ethnicity, sexual orientation -- no hatred. None of that will be tolerated.
No flaming or spamming. Anywhere. That's a given.
Avatar dimensions cannot exceed 100x150 pixels, and signature dimensions cannot exceed 500x400 pixels.
Moderate swearing is allowed; don't go crazy and do avoid the words you should very well know aren't appropriate.
Please try your best with literacy, even out of character. It doesn't take very long to type out "you" instead of simply using the letter.
characters
You may have five characters to start. For free. After that, if you'd like another, you must purchase a voucher at the shop.
You're allowed to create one Wild Cat character to start, too. This character does count towards your five free characters. If you'd like to create another Wild Cat, you must purchase the voucher at the shop, even if you have four other free character slots.
Your character has to have been accepted before you can role-play it.
You cannot create an character other than a cat. Other animal characters may be purchased in the shop, and they are limited to one per customer.
No, your character cannot have special powers.
No, your character cannot be an unnatural color.
No, your character cannot be a Mary Sue.
High positions (such as leader, deputy, medicine cat, or medicine cat apprentice) are limited to one per role-player.
posting
There is no posting word minimum. This is because I expect you to role-play in an intermediate-to-advanced manner. I do not expect to see four-sentence posts, but I am not going to force you to use 150 words per post. I am asking you to please try your hardest.
Absolutely no chatspeak in character.
"Speech should be in quotation marks," the admin said. I hope members have the common sense to put thoughts in italics, too. she thought to herself.
Spelling and grammar should be in good condition. It's expected that you know how to spell (or if you don't, for Heaven's sake just Google it!) and know basic grammar. This includes sentence structure, comma placement, paragraph structure, run-on sentences, fragments, etc. I use run-ons and fragment for poetic effect; you're allowed to do the same.
Post in past tense and third person, please.
It would be appreciated if you blockquoted your posts at least once (no more than twice), and posts should not be an irrational font size. Size one or two is appropriate.
Please inform a staff member if the thread has been finished so it can be moved to the Lost Pages.
battles
Battles should have a predetermined winner. If you can't decide who wins, staff will decide who wins.
No god-modding. That means your character cannot have supreme strength with power to wipe out the entire rainforest. This also means your character cannot have supreme defense with enough endurance to only get a scratch if a tree fell on him or her. This also means your character cannot have supreme speed without enough agility to dodge every single attack. Be fair.
No power-playing. In other words, you cannot role-play the other person's character. No, "She charged and threw him against a tree." battles. If it's not obvious, you can't kill the other person's character without their permission either.
breeding
I'm sorry if this offends anyone, but no homosexuality or bisexuality is allowed in role-play. Face it: humans are intelligent and can decide they're attracted to the same gender. Cats only know reproduction to keep their species alive. After all, they're called mates, not boyfriends or girlfriends. If you have a problem with this, PM the admin.
No graphic breeding.
PM a staff member if you have gained a mate.
Post in the Kitting Board if you and your mate have decided to have kits. The number if kits in your litter, their genders, and their appearances will be decided by staff; however, you may decide their personality and names.
Your kits will have to be given up for adoption unless one or both parents still has a free character slot, in which case you may choose to role-play one for yourself. You may also buy your kit if you wish to for a discount price in the shop.
activity and time
Remain active. This rule is stressed more if you have a high-positioned character and even more if you're staff.
Liquid time is not allowed. This means your character cannot be in more than one thread at once.
